Celebration as Her Majesty the Queen opens Allam Medical Building

It was a double celebration for staff and students at the University and Hull York Medical School in November as we welcomed Her Majesty the Queen to officially open the Allam Medical Building, the heart of the University’s £28 million health campus.

During Her Majesty’s visit, staff and students demonstrated the impressive facilities in the building, and how the nurses, midwives, operating department practitioners and doctors of the future will all be able to work together.

Following the opening and a tour of the facilities, Her Majesty the Queen headed to Canham Turner, where our team had the honour of preparing and serving a three-course lunch for 120 specially-invited guests.

There has been much speculation about the menu on the day, but we can confirm that Her Majesty enjoyed pressed confit pork followed by seared lamb loin with apple pie for dessert.

As Her Majesty departed, many of our events, catering and hospitality team were able to stand in line as she walked along and thanked everybody. It was a truly spectacular day for the University.
